I can't remember the last time I voted *for* a candidate, rather than *against* his opponent. Neither of our two main parties offers reasonable, qualified, decent candidates with proven records of governing or management or policy-crafting ability. A life-long liberal, I now despise both parties. The Democrats are somewhat less bad than the GOP, but they're so ineffectual in countering the GOP's oligarchic, authoritarian slant - and display a similar slant themselves - that I quote Shakespeare: "A plague o' both your houses!"
It occurs to me that your 'news' writing could be under the EUNS banner because clearly, when it comes to our politics, everything is useless and nothing is solved. Which reminds me of something I realized thinking about your recent EUNS posts: They mirror real life in that we don't know what motivates the lead characters - what they're thinking - and, at the 'end' of the tale, nothing is resolved. You leave the reader hanging, wondering who these people are, what their intentions are, how the situation (if there is a 'situation') will be resolved. I'm familiar with in medias res, but I'm not aware of a similar phrase that describes a 'drama' with no resolution. Fitzgerald's Great Gatsby comes to mind: ""So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past" - yet not into the past, but into the quagmire of no resolution.

No argument. We are very much operating in a “vote against” time. Thanks, Katie.
